Outdoor Riding Essentials

Published in News on Aug 4th, 2022

Deciding to take your ride outside this summer? From mountain trails to the open road, outdoor riding presents different obstacles than indoor cycling. With unpredictable weather to your path taking you into more remote areas, it's best to make sure you're prepared. We've asked around to see what the most popular items are to bring on your outdoor ride!

Keep reading to see what we recommend you pack before hitting the road. This list is sure to keep you energized, hydrated, and comfortable for your next adventure.

FOOTWEAR

Most of us already know that having the right footwear while exercising can make all the difference- and outdoor cycling is no exception to the rule! You're going to want a shoe that's not afraid to get a little dirty- but that doesn't mean you need to sacrifice on style...

Made with the same DNA as the best-selling Slipstreams, the Via Cycling shoes are designed with the outdoors in mind. With weather-resistant materials, your feet will thank you as their protected from the elements.

FOOD FOR FUEL

Whether your ride is a quick two-miler or an all day event, carrying extra snacks on you is always a good idea. Our recommendation? Something that will give you a boost of energy quick- aka carbohydrates! Carbs are the quickest way to get energy into your system to keep your ride going strong.

Powered by seeds, 88 ACRES has been a go-to at TIEM HQ for their delicious bars and butters. Made in a bakery free from all major allergens, not only is this a healthy & easy snack for you- but it's perfect to share!

HYDRATION

Whenever you're incorporating more movement into your day, staying hydrated is KEY. Especially in the middle of your ride where water might not be easily accessible, boosting what's already in your water bottle is a great plan of attack.

Drip Drop is an effective alternative to IV therapy for dehydration (which BTW 75% of us are chronically dehydrated every day!!). These easy to carry packets are delicious, doctor-developed, and loaded with electrolytes to keep you feeling your best!

EXTRA LAYERS

You probably already know what we're going to say about this one. Having an extra layer on you in case of unpredictable weather will never be something you regret packing. But, here's a few more reasons why you should consider packing a lightweight hoodie on your next ride! Can be used as a picnic blanket should you choose to stop & eat, a towel for unexpected accidents, a shield from the rain... the list goes on!

Our pick for a late summer ride? Our TIEM Cropped Hoodie. She's cute, lightweight, and ready for the road. If pink isn't your style, check out the rest of our apparel through the link below.
